West Branch Graduate Brody Martig Place 2nd at State FFA Convention and Expo
Brody Martig, a 2024 graduate of West Branch, has made West Branch FFA history at the 97th
Ohio FFA Convention and Expo. Brody placed 2nd in the state for the Grain Production
Proficiency area, the first time a member of the West Branch FFA chapter has ever achieved this
recognition. The Proficiency Award honors students who excelled in their Supervised
Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects. Brody’s SAE has demonstrated outstanding knowledge
and responsibility. His SAE includes working at Martig Farms, where he helps grow and
maintain a variety of crops, including winter wheat, corn, and soybeans. The farm also produces
bird seed, Birds Luv ‘Em, in a wide range of products, including 10, 25, and 50-pound bags of
various blends. In addition to crop production, the farm operates a dairy facility where
approximately 2,400 holstein cattle are raised. Brody was recognized on stage at the 3rd General
Session at the Ohio FFA State Convention in front of over 10,000 FFA members, advisors, and
guests from across the state. Brody's historical placement is a proud moment for the West Branch
FFA chapter, this achievement sets a new standard for our chapter and shows other students what
is possible.
