Aladdin a Huge Success!
The West Branch Music Department presented four shows of Aladdin Jr. on Friday, April 19th through Sunday, April 21st. The performances were outstanding by all involved and the crowds showed up to see the wonderful performances. In all, over 2,400 people showed up to watch including over 700 on both Friday night and Sunday afternoon.
The play was directed by Krista Clay and Tessa Wells and included over 150 students. Playing the role of Aladdin was sophomore Gavin Clay while Jasmine was played by senior Haley Close. Sophomore Alli Kanagy showed a ton of range as The Genie.
Mrs. Clay was very proud of all the kids who did an amazing job. She would like to thank all of the wonderful volunteers who helped make such a great performance happen along with a huge thanks to the Choir/Theater Boosters.
In particular, Mrs. Clay wanted to thank Miss Stitle who arranged the Elvis song for the show host band, Mr. Hobbins, Mr. Courtwright, and Scott Close who built the entire set, including the screen frame for the screen where the backdrops played. Andrea Zippay created many of the incredible props including the HUGE gold sculptures in the Cave of Wonders. Andrea also sewed costumes, made Prince Ali's turban, fixed costumes, designed the mobile carts in the marketplace and the circular shops that went around the marketplace. Also, a thank you to Mrs. Kanagy who made The Genie's costumes.
