Class of 2026 Immunization Requirements

Class of 2026 Immunization Requirements

School Immunization Requirements for WBHS Class of 2026

The Ohio Department of Health has revised the School Immunizations Requirements effective December 3, 2015. Students now must be vaccinated against meningococcal disease (MCV4) prior to entering their 12th grade school year.

This means that 11th grade students must provide the School Nurse with documentation of the meningococcal vaccination prior to the start of their senior year 2025-2026.

To meet the requirements for the meningococcal vaccine, two doses are required. The second dose must be given after your student's 16th birthday. However, if your student receives their first dose after their 16th birthday, then only one dose is required.

To avoid exclusion at the start of the 2025-2026 school year, I am advising that as soon as your student receives the meningococcal vaccine (must be after age 16), that you provide the School Nurse with the documentation.

There are various ways you can obtain this immunization:

•       Your private physician

•       Public Health Department

•       Pharmacies (Marc's-Walgreens-Walmart)

If you have any questions regarding this requirement, please feel free to contact your school nurse, physician or health department.

We are requesting that the updated immunization record be received by August 30, 2025.

It is our intent to inform you of this mandatory immunization while there is ample time for you to schedule an appointment to assure compliance with the due date of August 30, 2025. Fifteen days after the first day of school, if students do not have required immunizations, they will not be permitted in school.

Sincerely,

Teresa Santee, CMA
