Superintendent's Office -- 1/6/21
This is Micki Egli calling to inform you of changes that Governor DeWine’ recently made regarding quarantine guidelines for classroom situations.  This guidance states that, If your child is exposed to an individual who has tested positive for Covid 19 in a classroom setting and masks /barriers were in place as well as social distancing protocol were followed, your child is not required to quarantine.  Additionally, The social distancing protocol has been reduced from 6 feet to 3 feet as long as masks and/or barriers are in place in classroom settings.

We at West Branch Local Schools will continue to notify families if their child was exposed within 6 feet  radius to a positive case even though the guidance has changed to 3 feet.  ,We feel this is crucial information for our families to be aware of. You will be required to monitor your child in case any symptoms would arise over the 10 days immediately following the exposure.

If you feel you need to quarantine your child for the 10 days following the exposure, you must notify the school as soon as possible so we can mark attendance accordingly.

I was recently asked why we are not following the original protocol for the color codes that Mr. Saxton established in early August.  You may remember these protocols stated that if the county went red or purple further quarantines and protocols would be followed.  The reason why we are not doing this is simple - the state guidelines have changed.  The Governor and the Health Departments have changed their initial rulings on these cases.  They have informed school districts that closing schools continues to be a local decision and we must use our local data to determine what is best for our district.  The Governor, of course, can at any time, shut schools down as he did last spring.  However, at this exact moment in time, this remains a local decision for all districts in the state of Ohio.

The new guidelines are for CLASSROOM SITUATIONS only!  If you or your child are exposed to a positive case outside of the school setting you will be required to quarantine.

The new guidance again is only for classroom situations.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.
Middle School – 1/3/21
Good Evening, This is Jayson Yeagley, Principal of West Branch Middle School.  I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.  We are excited to return in person tomorrow for students.  I wanted to provide a few quick reminders to ensure that our return goes as smoothly as possible.:

#1-Return to School - Please remember to bring your materials to include books, charged chromebooks, covid-masks, and other supplies you'll need to be ready to go.

#2-Increasing Study Hall Usage - Study Halls are a key time to review content, complete homework, or ask questions (get support).  Many students really use study halls wisely and benefit from this period each day.  Start a conversation with your student in order to how this time is used and what is accomplished.  We are working towards helping to make these periods more meaningful.

#3-End of the Nine Weeks/Semester - Semester 2 will start on February 1st 2021.  Students will need to use the rest of the time this nine weeks to fill gaps of knowledge and understanding.

Remember, the spotlight news section for the Middle School website is your one stop place to up to date information.

Good afternoon, Warriors, This is Mr. Schlueter calling to remind you of our attendance policy during remote learning.

Each day your child’s teachers will post assignments on Google Classroom for your child to complete. Your child’s attendance for the day is based upon his or her completion of these daily assignments prior to the deadline at 11:59 pm. If the daily assignments are completed on time, the student will be marked present. If the daily assignments are not completed on time, the student will be marked absent. Bear in mind each student has two teachers that are assigning work and the work for both teachers must be completed.  If your child is too sick to complete his or her daily assignments, please call them off just as you would if they were attending school in person.

If you need any assistance with technology, please call me at (330) 938-4300.

I understand that remote learning can be a challenge for families. If you need assistance please contact your child’s teacher via ClassDojo or call the school between the hours of 8:15 - 4:00 to speak to your child's teacher, school counselor, or to me. We want to work together to help our children be successful and continue the learning process.
