Five WB Students Participate in Buckeye State Programs

Five West Branch High School students spent last week deeply involved in learning about many facets of government at Buckeye State.

Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State are sponsored by the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, respectively. The programs bring together hundreds of students from across the state in a workshop to learn about city, county, and state government, helping shape the students into informed and responsible citizens.

Last week, two West Branch High School students attended Buckeye Girls State at the University of Mount Union, and three students attended Buckeye Boys State at Miami University. These students were chosen through a selection process conducted by a local sponsoring American Legion and Auxiliary.

West Branch School and Community Cultivating a Culture for Agriculture

West Branch Local Schools Vocational Agriculture Department is dedicated to promoting an understanding of agriculture and equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to farm or work in agriculture-related fields.

West Branch third grade students got a behind-the-scenes look at the field of agriculture during last week’s annual farm field trip hosted at local farms in partnership with the district’s high school vocational agriculture program. Students visited Conny and Martig Farms and got to plant their own plant alongside their high school peers in the ag room.

The vocational agricultural program at West Branch High School offers seven courses, with nearly a third of West Branch students taking at least one of these courses prior to graduation.
