Grading Scale

Student report cards in second grade will continue to be standards-based.  This will look similar to report cards in kindergarten and first grade.  Assessments that come home will be marked with a “1, 2, or 3” measuring student mastery of Common Core State Standards for second grade.  The Common Core State Standards are concepts and skills that students are expected to master at the end of each grade level K-12.  In our class, a student score of “3” on an assessment means that he/she is showing mastery of the standard.  A score of “2” means that the student is progressing toward the standard.  A score of “1” means that the student is making limited progress toward the standard.  This is replacing traditional letter grades.  A standards-based report card is meant to give families a clearer picture of student strengths and needs.  I am looking forward to watching your children grow with you this year!  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
