WARRIOR Way
2011-2012 School Year
Discipline has not been a significant problem at West Branch and we are taking a positive approach to instruct students in expected behaviors. This system is district-wide and sets firm, fair, and consistent parameters for all students, while providing opportunities for all students to grow and succeed.
Purpose: To create a safe and orderly learning environment, the following are expected from WARRIORS.
W e
A re
R espectful Behave in a manner that’s considerate of others
R esponsible Demonstrate self-control and act safely
I nvestigative Think before you act
O ptimistic Have a positive attitude and help to create a positive environment
R eady to learn Be prepared, organized, and on-task
Students who demonstrate positive behaviors will be acknowledged throughout the school year.
When a behavioral expectation has been violated within a 9 week period, students earn a mark.
- 5 marks – Behavior Discussion with Student and Teacher, phone call home by teacher, and meeting with a Behavior Coach (Counselor, Principal, etc.)
- 10 marks – Behavior Intervention with Student, Teacher and Behavior Coach along with Detention before or after school
- 15 marks – Home/School Behavior Intervention Meeting with Student, Parents, and Staff
With every 5 marks earned a behavior report will be mailed home and a plan to erase the marks will be implemented with teacher and student. Three positive changes in behavior will erase one mark.
Bullying, Profanity, Physical Contact, excessive marks in one day, and other violations of the Code of Conduct will not be tolerated and will be handled by the building principal’s discretion.
Please take time to review the West Branch Elementary Student Handbook.
