Independent Reading Blog Post 8

Each blog post will be worth 10 points towards your quarter grade. You will get 5 points for responding to the prompts and 5 points for commenting on at least one of your classmate's posts.

Here is the post for this week:

1. Choose a moment from pages 29-50 of Fahrenheit 451 that really grabbed your attention and write out the quote. *Be sure to cite the page number!

2. Why did this moment stand out to you? Was it meaningful? Shocking? Sad? Explain why it stood out to you.

This quote stands out to me, because it shows how distant and not good Millie's and Montag's marriage is. If Millie can't even remember where and when she met Montag, that's pretty messed up. It just shocks me, how can't someone remember that? Maybe she has memory loss from all the pills she takes. Just an idea.

It's like they went straight for what they told was once was not even questioning it. It saddened me because they are closed minded.

This quote stood out to me because you don't really know if Clarisse actually died and if she did then how did she die. After that, Mildred didn't really care that she died and Montag didn't really make a big deal out of it either.

He mentioned at the end he would remember her no other way, which is very depressing that how he described her would be the way he sees his wife forever.

I chose this quote because it shows how uncomfortable the firemen are about having the woman in the house as they are preparing to burn her books. They are used to the accused person being taken away and working in empty houses where they feel no guilt burning things, but now there is a person and they cannot ignore her presence. It’s disturbing to see their lack of empathy and concern for her life.
