Middle School Students Shine at Solo and Ensemble Contest

 

The “Superior” soloist awards went to Amanda Dean, Mackenzie Montgomery, Kaylen Sanor, and Grayce McDaniel on Flute; Sydney Thomas and Erica Scarpitti on Clarinet; Peyton Zamarelli on Alto Saxophone; Emilee Sanor on Tenor Saxophone; Olivia Evert on French Horn; Jessika Owen on Trumpet; and Kristen Sedlacek on Marimba.
 
A “Superior” rating was also awarded to the following ensembles: the Flute Trio, the Clarinet Trio, Woodwind Trio A, the Percussion Ensemble, and the Brass Choir.
 
Soloists who received the “Excellent” rating were Kassie Steed on Flute, Skylee Bowlin on Clarinet, Christina Langen on Tenor Saxophone, Cole Chumney on Piano, and Derek Reed on Trombone.
 
Ensembles who earned the “Excellent” rating were the Woodwind Trio B as well as the Brass Quartet.
 
The next opportunity to hear West Branch band students perform will be at the annual Festival of Bands on Tuesday April 9th at 7:00 PM in the High School Gym. The concert will feature performances by all of the West Branch bands in grades five through twelve including the Jazz Bands. Admission is free and open to the public.
