Eighth Grade Students Look to Future on Career Day

On January 8, the 8th grade students at West Branch Middle School took a look at the future during career day activities.
The day was highlighted by a field trip to the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center in Canfield. The students toured the facility and observed a number of MCCTC classes. Students can attend the MCCTC during the 11th and 12th grade, if they choose to do so.
Back at the Middle School, the 8th graders heard a number of presentations from guest speakers.
Clinical counselor and guidance department intern Pam Kern distributed copies of “On Track” magazine, a career discovery guide. Students read portions of the magazine and participated in career related activities.
High School counselors Jill DeRamo and Jana Stitle presented information about going to West Branch High School. They explained scheduling choices, graduation requirements, and daily procedures.
Sara Fugett and Ron Holden from the University of Mount Union presented information about attending college. This information focused on career trends, who should go to college, and preparing for college.
