Teens for Jeans

Did you know that over a million young people experience homelessness in the US every year?  On any given day 30-40 thousand children are homeless in America.  According to organizations set up to help the homeless, the one item they often request is a pair of jeans.   Jeans are the perfect item to donate. They can be worn multiple times between washes, can be dressed up or dressed down, and provide a sense of normalcy to the person wearing them.

West Branch High School is teaming up with Teens for Jeans, to run a drive to collect gently worn jeans.  This will be donated to an area shelter.  The top 3 schools participating in the drive will win a grant worth up to $3,000 and an extra $500 to be used to throw a celebration party!!  That’s not all, for every 2 pairs of jeans YOU donate earns you a chance to win a $5,000 individual scholarship.  Make sure you to see Mrs. Hall to learn how.

We will begin collecting starting tomorrow through the 29th.  Collection boxes will be located in the cafeteria.  We will also be holding our own contest to see which grade level can collect the most pairs of jeans with a surprise to be announced at a later date!!
