Also, Tuesday, June 4th is the last day of school and we will dismiss at 1:20 pm. That is 1 hour earlier than normal. Buses will pick up students at dismissal and will drop off students at their stop 1 hour earlier than normal. Please plan accordingly.

Have a great Warrior evening.

Damascus One Call – 5/7/19

Calling to remind parents that today is election day. There is a school levy on the ballot and I encourage to cast your vote today and make your voice heard. It is predicted that turn-out will be low, so your vote will have an even greater impact on the results. Polls are open until 7:30 pm, so take a few moments, fulfill your civic duty and vote in this election.  Thank you and have a great Warrior evening.

District Call – 5/1/19

Good Afternoon. I would like to reassure our parents that the teacher who has been accused of alleged misconduct is currently on administrative leave, pending a full investigation. We are cooperating with local law enforcement and intend to see this situation through to the end. The administration, faculty and staff at West Branch take the safety and welfare of our students seriously and want to reassure you that this situation will be handled in a professional, discreet and aggressive manner. Have a great afternoon, and as always - Go Warriors!
Damascus One Call -- 5-1-19

Also, I want to remind everyone that West Branch Local School will have a levy on the ballot next Tuesday, May 7. I encourage everyone to make your voice heard and vote in this election.  Thank you and have a great Warrior evening.

Damascus One Call -- 4-24-19

Good evening, this is Principal Schlueter with a change regarding dropping off students at school this Friday. All Damascus Elementary students will be attending the Beauty and the Beast performance on this Friday, April 26, at 8:00 at the West Branch High School Auditorium. All parents that drive their students to school are to take them directly to the high school that morning and drop them off between 7:30 and 7:45 am. Please enter the drive north of the high school nearest to the bus garage, circle around the back of the school and drop off your students on the sidewalk along the auditorium and gym which will be on your right.

We will still have latchkey on Friday morning at Damascus Elementary School and will transport those students to the high school school auditorium. Thank you and have a great Warrior evening.

Damascus One Call -- 4-11-19

I’m calling to remind families that tomorrow is a PJ for DJ day, DJ is a boy in the Louisville district who is suffering from cancer. The Damascus Elementary Student Council would like to help him and his family out with their added expenses by having this PJ day. We ask all participates to bring in at least $1 or anything they can to suport his family. Thank you in advance for your willingness to help others in need while you enjoy wearing pajamas to school.

Damascus One Call 3-18-19:

The is Principal Schlueter calling to remind everyone about the Family Literacy Night which will be held tomorrow evening, March 19th from 6:00 - 7:00 at West Branch Middle School. This event is hosted by our student teachers from the University of Mount Union who will have 12 different interactive learning stations for students and their families to participate in.  I hope to see you there.

Also, today was the kick-off for our spring fundraiser. We held an assembly at school today and students received their order forms. Our goal is to raise enough funds to purchase a new cart of Chromebooks for the students to use. There are many individual incentives for selling and the class that sells the most will earn a movie and popcorn party.

Damascus Elementary School -- 2/21/19

Good evening, this is Principal Schlueter and I am calling to relay a concern. We are having our duct tape fundraiser this week, and with the snow day on Wednesday, our donations are a little low. Quite frankly, they are so low that I am afraid that students will not have purchased enough strips of duct tape to hold me up. So to make sure your principal does not fall off the wall I need you to bring in your money tomorrow to purchase more strips of duct tape. Remember, all money raised goes toward a college scholarship for a West Branch Senior who attended Damascus Elementary School.

Also, the classes in the lead for an ice cream party are Mrs. Kadvan’s class and Mrs Cline’s class. But there is still time to pass them up if you bring in your money tomorrow.   Students, I am counting on you to hold me up!

Have a great Warrior evening.

Damascus Elementary School  -- 2/18/19

Good evening, this is Principal Schlueter with 2 reminders for this week.

First, this week is duct tape fundraiser week and we are asking  students to bring in money which will go towards a college scholarship for a West Branch High School senior who attended Damascus Elementary school. Students will receive a length of duct tape for each dollar they bring to school which will be used to tape me and one other lucky staff member to the wall on Friday.

Second, this week we are celebrating Random Act of Kindness Week. As part of this students are encouraged to dress up as follows:

Tuesday: Wear a shirt with an inspirational or kind quote
Wednesday:  Wear red, white, and blue to show kindness and appreciation for our country
Thursday:  Wear your class color
K: Blue
1st: Green
2nd: Pink
3rd: Orange
4th: Purple

Friday:  Wear your green, white, and black to show WARRIOR kindness!

Have a great and kind Warrior Week.

Good Morning Warrior Parents -- 2/8/19

I wanted to take the time to inform you regarding an isolated incident that took place this morning at West Branch Middle School. After students moved to their classrooms and the day had begun, a member of the teaching staff was informed by a student that they had a knife in their bookbag, which was located in a locker.

No threat was verbally made to students or staff - the staff member immediately gave the information to Principal Fowler and the knife was confiscated.

The student will be disciplined accordingly and information was turned over to our School Resource Officer .

I commend our teaching and administrative staff for maintaining instructional integrity during the situation.

This was an isolated incident, and once again, no threats were made to students or staff.

Have a great day and as always, Go Warriors!

Middle School One Call -- 11/30/18

Good morning.

At approximately 9:55 a.m., West Branch Middle School went into a lockdown situation that was lifted at 10:15 a.m. During preschool parent teacher conferences, a parent who was verified through the office went down the wrong hallway as they were making their way to the preschool. The parent was not wearing their visitor badge at the time and immediately concerned our staff. The decision was made to put the school into a lockdown until the person could be identified and the situation controlled. At no time were students in any danger. Our staff acted quickly to protect our children.

Safety is our number one priority and we are thankful for our staff and students who remained calm during the lockdown. We want to remind everyone that while they are in the building, visitor identification must be visible at all times.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Fowler at 330-938-4300.

District One Call -- 11/14/18

I wanted to call attention to the Weather Delay and Cancellation Procedures that have been posted under the spotlight news section on the district website.

In the event that school would need to be delayed or closed, information would be shared via twitter, facebook, and the one call system along with radio and television outlets.

Please review the information on the website in preparation for Winter season.  Have a great evening and as always, Go Warriors!

WBMS One Call -- 9/5/18

Day # 2 is off to a great start with one snag. At approximately, 6:00 a.m., two bats were discovered in the middle school cafeteria seating area - before school started this morning. The seating area was closed and no students have come into contact with the bats. Students were provided breakfast in the library.

Professional animal removal technicians have been contacted and will be dispatched to the school. If the situation is not resolved by lunch time, students will eat in the library, gym, or outside (weather permitting).

A huge thank you to our custodial and kitchen staff for making this situation work for all our students. Any questions can be directed to Principal Fowler at 330-938-4300.

Have a great day, and as always - Go Warriors!

WBMS One Call -- 9/5/18

Good evening, everyone. It's Mr. Fowler and first let me apologize about sending another one call. I try not to do too many of these but they are sometimes necessary to get the year up and running.

First, don't forget that there are two entrances to the school. You can use either the Main Street entrance or the Ellett Road entrance. Word from a few parents was the Ellett Road side was very easy to use and much quicker than the Main Street side with the light at 62.

Second, please be sure you let your child know where you will pick them up after school. There was some confusion about this today.

If you have a high schooler that drops off their sibling, please remind them to not be speeding through the lot. We had a couple of instances of this already this morning.

We're working through schedule changes and hope to have most of those completed by Friday or Monday at the latest.

Thanks for a great first day.
Damascus & Knox Elementary -- 9/5/18

Good Evening Warior Nation.  The August 16, 2018 water sample reports for Damascus and Knox Elementary Schools can be found on our district website under the spotlight news section.

I hope everyone had a great first day and I am confident this will be a great school year!

Have a great night and as always Go Warriors!

District One Call -- 8/30/18

Good Afternoon Warrior Nation,  We are excited to announce that the majority of back to school forms will be completed using the district's online system OneView.

This system simplifies the process of filling out forms for your children because much of the information you will be asked to complete will be automatically imported from our student information system.  Parents will need their children's Student IDs (same as lunch number) to complete this process. This number is being provided in a letter mailed home this week. If you know this number and are ready to get started, please log on and create an account!

The WBLSD OneView web portal is available on our website under the Parent Tab at the top of the main page and in  the district spotlight news section under the title On Line Forms.  If you do not have internet access or computers at home, computer labs will be open at all buildings on September 4th from 4-6 pm.

If you cannot attend that night, please feel free to call your child's school to schedule a convenient time to complete these forms.

Have a great day, and as always - Go Warriors!
