Visitors to Damascus Elementary School quickly learn the importance to recycle. Recycle bins are visible in the halls and classrooms. A large box sits outside the library holding used telephone books. As kindergarteners, students at Damascus Elementary first learn the importance of recycling and caring for our world. Two days a week, fourth graders “busy as bees” collect paper from all classrooms and offices. Students organize recycled batteries, plastics, aluminum cans and many other recyclable items for pick-up. We trust each student will continue recycling efforts as adult and share these important lessons with others.
