Damascus Elementary School
2012 Met 8 out of 8 State Indicators
Four Time National Waste Wise Recycling Award Recipient
Average Daily Membership October 1st – 5th
“Count Week” will take place October 1st – 5th. We greatly appreciate your cooperation and willingness to have students in attendance throughout the entire year. ADM (average daily membership) is a method of counting students for the purpose of providing state aid to school districts. Funding for transportation is also determined based on the number of students riding the bus. Please encourage student attendance during the first week of October and have them ride the bus if available. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Grade Three Ohio Achievement Assessment
October 2, 2011
Our third grade students will be taking the Ohio Reading Achievement Test on October 2nd. Please remind children to get a good nights’ rest and eat a good breakfast. Please let the children know that you believe they will do their best and are proud of their efforts in all they do each day. We want the children to build confidence and positive attitudes. We are very proud of all our students and are pleased to see their daily academic progress.
Cash for Cans Recycling Drive
We are pleased to again participate in the friendly can collection competition amongst neighboring districts in Mahoning County. Each year we receive over one thousand dollars for our efforts which directly benefits student programs throughout the year. Aluminum cans may be dropped in the back of the building. We are pleased with the continued support from the community and the commitment to recycle in the homes. Please Drop-off all cans three days prior to collection dates: October 11, November 8, December 13, January 10, February 14, March 14, and April 11.
P.I.E. Fall Fundraiser
We are now beginning the P.I.E. fall fundraiser. Together we will be able to continue to offer motivational engaging events and assemblies to our students. Your support and participation is greatly appreciated.
We want all parents to know they are welcome in the building. If you would like to observe your child in class, please contact the teacher in advance. Also, anytime you are entering the building, you must stop at the school office. Visitors in our building must sign in and wear a name tag at all times. We need to have a record of the adults entering our building during the school day.
