Students at Damascus Elementary School attended their annual awards assembly on Wednesday.
Kim Lewis, Mahoning County Recycling Division's Green Team educator, was on hand to present a "Cash for Cans" award.
"Out of 24 participating schools in the county, Damascus took second overall," Lewis said. "They collected 2,540 pounds of aluminum cans and raised $1,458.66."
Students received a variety of awards that included certificates for perfect attendance, BUG (Bringing Up Grades) awards and achieving all A's during the school year.
