Thanks for a Great Year, WBMS Student Council

West Branch Middle School student council has been very active again this year. The officers started meeting over the summer to plan the start of the school year. We began this school year assisting with schedule distribution, and building tours for new students.

The WARRIOR WAY HARD WORK CAFÉ was provided and maintained by Student Council again this year. Community members Theresa Fletcher, Justin Hendershott, Fred Hobbs, Cheri Denny, Elisa Kutz, Marissa Criss, and Mark Criss donated their time to serve as host/hostess. Students recognized for good behavior and effort in school, were invited to eat lunch in the Café, enjoy cookies provided by bakers of Damascus Friends Church, and play games during their lunch time.

In November Student sponsored the annual food drive that benefits those in our community, with 2880 POUNDS OF FOOD collected. Other service projects completed by Student Council collecting toys and games for Akron Children’s Hospital, window painting to decorate the hallways for Christmas, filling eggs for the Damascus Community Park annual hunt, held a Bandana-Bows-or Ball hat day to raise money for St. Baldrick’s, and provide Perkins pie for dessert during teacher appreciation week.

Student Council also sponsors numerous Spirit Days throughout the school year, as well as, the Academic Recognition Luncheon at The University of Mount Union to honor students in 7 th & 8 th grade who have achieved honor roll and have 0 discipline points each of the 3 nine weeks. The 5 th & 6 th grade students earning Academic Recognition had a pizza party at the Damascus Ruritan Park. On the last day of school, ice cream treats will be served to all middle school students who have zero discipline points for the entire year.
