Wednesday, January 10, 2018, West Branch Middle School held its annual Spelling Bee.  Thirty-two participants took part in the bee from grades fifth through eighth.  Angeline Theis, a consultant from the Mahoning County Educational Service Center, served as the pronouncer.  Serving as judges were Susan Baldwin - 7th grade Language Arts teacher, Wendy Beal - Speech and Language Specialist, and Deborah Erbs - 5th grade Math teacher.

This year two runners up were named, Lachlan Cameron - 7th grade, and Jibrael Al-Shinnawi - 5th grade.  The 2018 Spelling Bee champion was Allison Zion - 7th grade.  Allison will be representing West Branch Middle School in the Spelling Bee hosted by the Youngstown Vindicator in February.  We wish Allison the best of luck!
