Students in Mrs. Lesnett’s Freshman Honors English classes at West Branch High School competed again this year in the national Voice of Democracy contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The 2015 topic was “My Vision for America.” Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate in the contest and are required to submit an original 3-5 minute audio recording to the local VFW post. Camryn Sutton and Olyvia Bates both placed at the local level and received a monetary prize. This was the first year that students at West Branch had their competition entries divided between various VFW posts since the Sebring VFW is not operational at this time.
Special thanks go to the members of the Sebring VFW and Commander Terry Frasher for their dedication to this project.
