Eleven West Branch FFA students spent a sunny week in Fort Worth, Texas during the first few days of February. FFA members Sami Stryffeler, Katie Stowe, Madison Pidgeon, Andrew Hrusovski, Anthony Ginnetti, Kira Sharp, Ellie Elasivich, Kyle Wade, Taylor Snyder, Jesse Elasivich, and Rod Headland all traveled together with their advisors Greg Sharp and Rebecca Zeisler to the Lone Star State to participate in the Fort Worth Stockshow and Rodeo activities.
While in Texas, students spent one day paired with another student at Northwest High School in Justin, Texas. FFA members attended all classes with their partner during the day and were given a tour of the agricultural facilities that the Texas FFA members operate. West Branch FFA members also attended the Fort Worth Stockshows, one of the largest steer and hog shows in the United States, and attended a rodeo. Before heading back to the airport students were able to spend time at the Historical Fort Worth Stockyards, learning about the history of cattle drives and the beef industry. FFA members look forward to traveling to another state to learn about agriculture again in the near future.
